Raised Galvanized and Cedar Garden Beds

| Cedar and Galvanized Steel Raised Beds, 7 Years Old
Spring is fast approaching on the Sunshine Coast, and my wife's mind has turned to gardening. Out of all the different types of garden beds, she likes the raised galvanized steel and cedar beds that I made for her 7 years ago the best. So six more will shortly be added.
The first image is of the cedar I just lugged home. It is currently drying out a bit, and will be ready in a week or two. We did not have anymore of the metal siding from our home left, so I ordered cut 18 gauge galvanized steel. Mostly, I will look forward to not having to cut it myself-- not a big deal, but dreadfully loud with a circular saw.
Once the steel arrives, I bet it only takes a day to cut all the cedar and screw the six beds together. The old ones in the bottom picture are 16 inches high, and the new ones will only be 12, so less soil to scrounge up-- still, a lot. These will be replacing all the cedar square beds, some of which are visible in the bottom picture. Those were okay, but never quite high enough, at 8 inches.
I'll be sure to post an update, once they are made.

Perforated Sheet Metal Fence, Metal Roofing Raised Garden Beds

| This yard was scraped earth several months ago.
A while back, I had pledged to make at least bi-weekly blog postings. It turns out moving into a new house takes some time to adjust, and so many things had a higher priority than writing this blog. We are loving the new house, and my wife is fully responsible for transforming our scorched earth back yard to what you see above. Well, I do take credit for the design of the perforated metal fence, and for the design and building of the raised garden beds, which are made from leftover scraps from our house siding.
Between running my wind chime / suncatcher business, there is always a little something to do to the final touches on the house. This week has been painting the final drywall in our basement. I absolutely detest painting, so I am really happy that is done!
Now I am trying to box a very large wholesale order, shipping out to New Mexico. There are so many heavy beach stone wind chimes! This is going to be a nauseating postage bill, but I am happy to have so many fine works going to New Mexico-- one of my favourite states.
I hope to find time to do more blogging. Much more enjoyable than painting ceilings!

Slow Learner

After getting burnt on last week's auction (see below), you'd think I would have learned a lesson and tossed in the towel on these listings starting at .99 cents. Nope.
This week I started two auctions at .99 cents! Looking for pain, I guess.
The fact is, this is pretty much the slowest time of the year for me, just before the holiday rush (which I sure hope is coming soon!). But the bills keep coming in. Poor pup had a little run in with some poison, and that vet bill needs paying. And the family for some strange reason still wants to eat, even when things are not selling well. So I persist with the .99 cent listings, and cross my fingers that this time things will go better.
Why not grab the chance to get a bit of a bargain? Especially since almost certainly in a month or so, things will be flying out the door for way more money. If past years are anything to go by, soon the bidding and buying will go nuts. Can't wait!

Double sided reverese painted wind chimes

A pretty wind chime. A variation on my popular kaleidoscope style wind chime. It's surprising, but this one actually holds about three times more glass.
