🌊 Outstanding Wind Chimes — 100% Handmade in Canada

Welcome to the Coast Chimes workshop, where every wind chime is designed and handcrafted by artist Tim Kline in Gibsons, BC. For more than 25 years, Tim has been creating unique handmade wind chimes in Canada that blend art, music, and the natural beauty of the West Coast.

A Long Tradition of Handmade Craft

Tim was an early pioneer of selling handmade creations online. He joined Etsy back in 2005 when the platform was brand new, and soon after built his own website. When he moved to a home with dedicated studio space, he also became part of the Sunshine Coast Art Crawl, where his chimes became a highlight for visitors.

A New Canadian Site

With recent changes to US importation rules, Tim is now placing more emphasis on serving Canadian customers. That’s why he recently launched a Canadian sister siteCoastChimes.ca.

✨ Benefits for Canadian customers:

  • Free shipping across Canada

  • 15% discount compared to the US store

If you’re in Canada, this is the best way to explore and order Tim’s full collection of handcrafted Canadian wind chimes.

Big Changes in U.S. Shipping – and a New Canadian Website

The sudden change in U.S. importation policy—the elimination of de minimis—took the world by surprise. With almost no notice, postal systems around the globe had to stop accepting parcels bound for the United States. It was chaotic!

This policy shift has hit small businesses especially hard—think Etsy and eBay sellers—and Coast Chimes is no exception. For years, many of my loyal customers have been in the U.S., so I’ve had to invest a lot of time figuring out how to adapt.

Here’s the solution so far:

  • CoastChimes.com → For U.S. customers. I still offer free shipping, but each item now carries a $20 flat fee to help offset the steep customs brokerage charges. (Even though my wind chimes qualify for tariff-free treatment under CUSMA/USMCA, shipping companies charge over $20 just to clear them across the border.)

  • CoastChimes.ca → For Canadian customers. Here, I’m excited to introduce a 15% discount plus free shipping.

The good news is that Canadian orders have already been growing—likely thanks to the Buy Canadian movement. Having a dedicated Canadian site should make shopping even easier, and I hope it helps this trend continue.

One last note: if you shop online, please be patient with the small businesses you support. Behind the scenes, many of us are working hard, under pressure, to navigate these new rules and keep serving our customers.

And if you’re in Canada, I’d love for you to check out the new site: CoastChimes.ca
